Janet Susan R. Nepales
Janet Susan R. Nepales is an award-winning journalist who is the first and only Filipina member of the prestigious Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) that does the annual Golden Globe awards.
She was elected as the first Filipino Executive Secretary of the HFPA for the years 2017-2019 and the first Filipino Treasurer of the HFPA for the years 2019-2021. She is an Executive Producer of the 75th, 76th and 77th Golden Globe Awards.
She is the first and only Filipina voting member of the HFPA in its 77-year history.
Janet was a contributing editor to the HFPA’s 75th anniversary commemorative program book, “Hollywood Foreign Press Association: A History, 75 Years of the Golden Globe Awards.”
Based in Los Angeles, Janet is a University of Santo Tomas (UST) Journalism cum laude graduate who was recognized by the Filipina Women’s Network (FWN) as one of the “100 Most Influential Filipino Women in the U.S.” in 2012 and one of the “100 Most Influential Filipino Women in the World” in 2013. She is a co-author of the first FWN book entitled “DISRUPT: Filipina Women: Proud. Loud. Leading Without A Doubt.”
Janet is a consistent winner in the Los Angeles Press Club’s Journalism Awards. She has a weekly column, “Hollywood Insider,” on GMA-7 News Online and she is the Hollywood correspondent of the top network. She also has a regular column in Manila Up magazine and Exquisite magazine.
She is the wife of writer-journalist Ruben V. Nepales and the mother of two daughters --- Bianca Nicole and Rafaella Angelica.

Deena Pierott
Deena Pierott is a Social Entrepreneur and the Founder of the award winning and nationally recognized STEM+Arts program for youth of color called iUrban Teen and most recently co-founded and launched Black Women in STEM 2.0. Before launching her businesses, she had a stellar career in both private and public sector organizations such as Exxon, Mattel Toys, City of Portland and served as a Strategic Advisor on Equity and Community Engagement for the City of Seattle.
Ms. Pierott is also a sought-after diversity strategist and international speaker. She has served on several boards and commissions including a Gubernatorial appointment to the Commission on African American Affairs in the State of Washington. And honored by President Barack Obama as a White House Champion of Change for Technology Inclusion. She also designed and implemented the City of Portland’s Employee Resources Groups which are still thriving after 17 years and conceptualized the City’s Commission on Human Relations which is now their Office of Equity.
